This policy applies between you, the 'user' of the website, and the website owner 'Tarka Computer Care'. This policy applies to all use of any and all data collected by us in relation to your use of the website.

 

What We Collect

We may collect any of the following information.

  • Contact information including email address (if supplied)
  • A temporary backup of your computer in case of disaster when repairing your computer (if appropriate).

 

Use of data collected data

The data collected is for invoicing purposes only and is not shared with any 3rd party.

The backups performed if advised and/or requested are deleted upon completion of a 3 day period after collection of your repair job (in case any data is corrupt or missing it will allow us to recover that data for you).  It is deleted at this point. We have checked with the ICO and they have informed us that we are not required to register with them for these purposes. We will review this annually or as the law changes and register should this become a requirement.

 

Any personal contact data you submit will be retained by Tarka Computer Care for as long as you use the website or services provided by the website or for as long as we are required to keep invoices for bookkeeping / HMRC purposes.

 

All personal data is stored in accordance with the principals of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Data security is of great importance to us. Suitable physical and electronic procedures have been put in place to safeguard data collected when you drop off a computer to us or we visit you for a repair job.

 

Unless we are obliged by law to do so your data will not be disclosed to anyone else apart from the third parties mentioned below. If it is shared with them then it is on the understanding that they currently and in the future will conform to and follow the principals of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

 

Any or all of the above data may be required from time to time in order to provide you with the best possible service and experience when using the website. Specifically, data may be stored and used by us for the following reasons:

Third party websites and services

Tarka Computer Care may, from time to time, employ the services of other parties for dealing with matters which may include:

payment handling, delivery of purchased items and search engine optimisation (so you can find us on search engines more easily). The providers of such services may have access to certain personal data provided by you through the website or through a job record form that you fill out before a job is started (known as cookies). Any data used by such parties is non-identifieable and is used only to the extent required by them to perform the services that we request. Any use for other purposes is strictly prohibited. Any data that is processed by third parties must be processed within the terms of this policy and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

 

Your right to withhold data

You may access certain areas of the website without providing any data at all (See "Cookies" for more information). However, to use all services and systems available on the website you may be required to submit personal information or other data.

 

If we have not generated an invoice for you then you may ask for your customer contact details to be removed from our invoicing system. If we have generated an invoice then we reseve the right to retain that data for at least 7 years for the purposes of HMRC inspections. If you have not been invoiced for over 7 years then we may, at our discretion, remove the live data but the old invoices with your data contained therein will be retained in perpetuity.
